Kappa Delta Sorority was founded on October 23, 1897, and on March 15, 1969, the Delta Pi Chapter at Middle Tennessee State University was founded. Since our founding over 50 years ago, Delta Pi has created a sisterhood focused on serving others, academic excellence, leadership, but most of all, each other. Sisterhood drives what we do and what we stand for. We encourage sisters to be their unique selves and we celebrate our diverse sisterhood.
Having such a strong sisterhood allows us to do great things for our community and campus. Delta Pi is proud to host the biggest philanthropy event at Middle Tennessee State University with our event Wing Fling. In 2018, we raised over $20,000 for the prevention of child abuse and we have been honored to accept awards celebrating our successes in philanthropy. Along with supporting the prevention of child abuse, we also strive to instill confidence in young women in our community by hosting many events for local Girl Scouts.
As a chapter, we not only work every day to better our community, but we also work to better ourselves. We have a strong focus on our academics and are proud that in recent years, we have consistently been able to raise our GPA as a chapter. We host workshops in many different areas to make sure that the women who leave our chapter can go confidently. We value leadership and are very proud to have members involved all over campus. We have members who are Blue Elite Campus Tour Guides, SOAs for Customs, leaders of other student organizations, and are involved in many SGA and FSL committees.
Kappa Delta is a place that holds love, beliefs, and sweet memories. The things that we share in a sisterhood expand past the bounds of normalcy. In these years, Kappa Delta has been my safe haven. I have found parts of myself I did not know could be found, and loved aspects I did not know that I could.
